Former Warsaw Community High School swimmer Diane Williams has been granted a full grant-in-aid from Ball State University - the first female swimmer to be given a full scholarship at the school.
Wanda Hall, Richard Shively and Sue Hatfield were named by Bourbon Legion groups and the Lion's Club to attend Hoosier Boy's and Girl's States at Indiana University. Richard was sponsored by the American Legion, and Wanda and Sue's sponsors are the Legion Auxiliary and Lions.
In passing the beautiful city hall park at Indiana and Center streets an old woman, looking at the canna bed, on the north side of the park, inquired of firemen what kind of foliage plants those were among the cannas. She was nearsighted. The woman was informed by Robert Benjamin Hay, Warsaw fire truck driver, that the foliage was a vegetable commonly call ed lettuce which Bud Moon, another truck driver, had secretly planted in the flower bed one dark night. The lettuce is now ready to serve on the table.
