Officers were attempting to trace the ownership of 34 timing gears, having a retail value of $57, which were recovered from the Tippecanoe River near Orion by the Robert Chinworth family Sunday. The gears were manufactured by the Gatke Corporation at its plant in East Warsaw, and consigned to a San Francisco warehouse. Mrs. Chinworth told officers that she had seen an automobile stop on the Orion bridge and throw something into the water one week ago Friday. On the same night, two men attempted to stop a motorist on U.S. Highway 30 near the bridge by throwing boards at the car. It is not known if the two items are connected.
