A fifth-grade teacher from Washington Elementary School, Ann VanDuyne, has been named Warsaw Community Schools' Teacher of the Year.
The Chapman Lake Conservation Club has organized an EMS sign-numbering system for the roads and lanes around Chapman Lakes. All the labor was provided by the members of the club and $1,200 worth of posts were donated by a summer resident. The signs will enable EMS, fire departments and police to identify an area more easily. Carl Lozier was president of the club; Jack Miller, member of club's board of directors; and Gert Schiff, who headed the project.
Dr. Graydon S. Regenos, a native of Claypool, has been promoted to the rank of professor of classical languages at Tulane University. Regenos has been a Tulane faculty member since 1927.
Miss Faye Crites, Warsawan who teaches school at Bloomington, assisted in the presentation of a unique demonstration. It was built from the idea presented in the "House of Magic" at the Century of Progress Exposition at Chicago, given recently at Bloomington. The exhibition was used with ultra-violet rays showing the effects of this light on various objects. The demonstration, which was very educational and interesting, caused much comment among Bloomington residents.
