June 18 1999

    Lakeland Community Concert Association held a celebration party for reaching its monetary goal in excess of $14,000 during a recent fundraising campaign. Some of the board members, workers and officers attending were: June Stealy, Mary Ettinger, Mary Parr, Pauline Becknell, Annabelle Snyder, Janet Warren, Laurie Mock, Mark Sanders, Connie Stavropolus, Nancy McNoldy and Lila O'Connell.

    Tippecanoe Lake Country Club assistant pros Bryan Piekarski and David Cornford will be playing golf from sunup to sundown as part of National Golf Day. The pair are accepting pledges on how many holes they will play as well as how many birdies and eagles they record. The proceeds will go to various golf organizations.

June 18 1959

    A one-block section of South Lake Street, from Center to Market, was marked for one-way southbound traffic only by Warsaw police. It was marked one way on a trial basis after the Warsaw City Council recommended the change as a possible problem at the corner of Lake and Market streets.

    An unusual display of handiwork and electrical appliances made by members of the Warsaw Baker Boys' Club is now being shown at Bolinger Drygoods Co., Warsaw. L. N. "Pete" Thorne is instructor and manager of the Warsaw group, which has a large membership of elementary and high school boys from this city.
