Twenty-four Claypool second-graders made a replica of a humpback whale using six rolls of plastic and two rolls of sealing tape. The whale, which is 38 feet, 6 inches long, took 5-1/2 hours to make. Helping with the project were grandparents Ben and Linda Shafer, teacher assistants Jenny Ransbottom and Stefanie Shafer and teacher Beth Heiman.
Indiana All-Stars Marty Lehman of Warsaw and Jeff Peters of Whitko will be playing at Mentone Egg Festival's Star Game scheduled at the Tippecanoe Valley High School gymnasium.
Randy Hawk, 14, of Warsaw, recently had a dream come true. Randy, who is mechanically inclined, wrote his "dreams" to a national magazine about winning a factory-built small auto. Editors decided his letter was the best of the month and sent him the small auto, valued at $200.
Reductions in the salaries of teachers and school administration officials, adopted by the Warsaw Board of Education, will make an annual saving of $12,000. A number of Warsaw teachers have already expressed dissatisfaction over the new salary scale. Male teachers in the high school will receive a flat salary of $1,200 for the school year, Women teachers will receive $1,125.
