10 Years Ago Tippecanoe Valley High School graduate Amy Saner, daughter of Jim and Jan Saner, has committed to continue her education and softball career at Grace College. Valley head coach is B.J. Walls. Graduate Holli Jackson, daughter of Rick and JoEllen Jackson, will play volleyball at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. Valley head coach is Jon Hutton. Tippecanoe Valley graduate Lindsay Wiley, daughter of David and Linda Wiley, will play volleyball at Elmhurst College. Josh Leon, son of Lorenzo and Mira Leon, committed to play football at Manchester College. Head coach is Scott Bibler. Harrison Huskies won the boys track and field elementary school city championship for the third year in a row. Head coach is Scott Mehlberg. 25 Years Ago The 1990 Kosciusko County Parade of Homes, located at the North East Dells, is doing better than ever--nine of the ten homes are already sold, and home lots around the parade site are also selling, the best of the five-year-old event. Developer Bob Leiter has worked to retain the wooded atmosphere around many of the homes. A man-made pond runs along the back of several homes. The parade is open to the public beginning June 9 until June 17. 50 Years Ago "Footsteps to Fashion" is the theme for the annual Warsaw High School home economics department style show to be held Friday, May 14 in the school auditorium, it was announced by Principal William Davis. Mrs. Charles Reece, Mrs. A.C. Bernstein and Mrs. William Crosier, teachers, are sponsors of the event. Claudette Himes, senior, will act as emcee, with Robin Horn and Margo King narrating for the freshmen models, Christine Deaton and Caryl Meinert narrating the juniors, and Patricia Heath assisting with the seniors. Dave Barnett, senior, will preside at the organ during the evening, with additional music by the boy's quartet and "The Big E's," Jan, Kim and Brian Essenburg. Among those who will model their own fashions are seniors Sharon Kesler, Janet Bunnell, Sally Haldewang, Barbara Ketrow and Sue Quillen. 75 Years Ago Five local youngsters braved the icy waters of Winona Lake Monday to become the first swimmers reported this spring to your Times & Union office: Lewis Laughlin, sophomore; Bobby Riggins and Roleen Fonda, freshmen; Virginia Bennett and Alice Spacht , seventh graders. They swam off McDonald Island, Bennett Cottage.
