    Amber Pitts and Tiffany Thomas, both of Warsaw, were recently selected to participate in Nationals 1999 Miss Teen Indianapolis pageant competition recently. The teens will compete for more than $20,000 in scholarships, prizes and specialty gifts.

June 13 1984

    The theme of the Mentone Egg Festival this year will be "Athletes Past, Present and Future." To help highlight the three-day event, there will be the appearance in the Egg Festival Parade of the 1935 Mentone basketball state finalists and the Tippecanoe Valley football teams that were Class A state runner-up in 1977 and state champion in 1979. The Grand Marshal will be former Tippecanoe Valley grid coach Charlie Smith.

    Kosciusko County's 4-H delegation to the 28th annual state 4-H junior leader conference at Depauw University, Greencastle, included Carol Emmons, Warsaw; Jean Warstler, Milford; Ann Warner, Silver Lake; Nancy Albert, Leesburg; Roger Nellans and Larry Greulach, both of Mentone; and Larry Workman, Pierceton.

June 13 1934

    The ceremonial meeting of the O-We-Kon-Za campfire group was held at the home of Miss Louise Cain on East Market Street. The purpose of the meeting was to initiate the Misses Betty Mikesell and Jean McCullough. Miss Jean Calvert will attend the summer meetings and go to camp with the group.
