    Warsaw's No. 1 doubles tennis duo, Liza Weidenbenner and Kara Kesler, traveled to Indianapolis and defeated doubles teams from New Prairie and Glenn to advance to the state competition.

June 10 1984

    Triton's Lorea Feldman was one of four players to score 15 points to lead the Hoosierettes to the girls state AAU basketball championship recently with a 68-64 win over Hancock Hammers. Also netting 15 were "Miss Basketball" Sharon Versyp, Shari Moore and Wabash's Michelle Melzoni. The Hoosierettes represented the state at the national finals in Clovis, N.M., in July.

    Dr. Byron S. Lamson, of Winona Lake, presented a slide illustration and talk on his experiences and impressions from 15 years of world travel to the Warsaw Rotary Club at its noon luncheon

    The Warsaw Independent baseball team smothered the Peru Colored Buddies here at Beyer Field to the tune of nine to nothing. The feature of the contest was a home run by Johnny Piper, Warsaw third baseman, deep into left field.
