Prairie View Rest Home resident Ruby Thompson, known as the "slipper lady," because of the many slippers she has knitted, was recently made an honorary member of the "Sounds Of Hope" singing group. Ruby has knitted slippers for members of the group for seven years, and director Varner Chance presented her with a certificate and a pin as a token of his appreciation.
Trophies were presented to Mary Aker and Sam Neher, high scorers in a special "roll-off" among the 12 men and 12 women who had the highest league averages in the bowling season just completed. Aker rolled a three-game series of 633 to top the women, while Neher came through with a 614, high among the men. The Ruse trophies were presented by Mrs. Roy Ruse in memory of her late husband, Roy Ruse, former owner of the local lanes.
