    Pfc. Jerry D. Wilkins claimed the title U.S. Marine recently. Wilkins, the son of Tori and Jerry Wilkins and grandson of Ben and Mary Stage, is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School.

Wilkins battled his way through 13 weeks of the most physically and mentally challenging training the U.S. Military provides.

    The top students of Whitko High School's graduating class of 1984 have been announced by Principal Arlyn D. Reinhard. They are valedictorian Aaron Bales and salutatorian Peter Fortman, both from the Larwill area.

Bales is the son of John and Marilyn Bales, and Fortman is the son of Thomas and Kay Fortman.

May 9 1959

    Mrs. Richard Shively, retiring president of Alpha Beta chapter, of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, was named "Girl of the Year" at the Founder's Day banquet recently. Her name will be inscribed on a gold loving cup which she will retain for a year. In addition she received two personal gifts, a milk glass ivy bowl for her collection and a star charm for her sorority achievement bracelet.

    Virginia Kelly, member of the junior class of Purdue University was elected women's editor of the "Debris" the college yearly annual, for next year. Kelly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly of South Buffalo Street.
