    In what is believed to be the closest race in Kosciusko County history, Charles Waggoner won the Republican nomination for prosecuting attorney in the primary election Tuesday.

Aaron Rovenstine cleared a major hurdle in his attempt to extend the family tradition in Kosciusko County Sheriff's Dept.

    POTPOURRI - Local Man In The Soaps - A familiar face will appear on the ABC soap opera "Ryan's Hope" this week. Nicholas Joyner, 23, son of local theater entrepreneur Bess Joyner, will have a part in episodes which air this week. Nick, who is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School, appeared in "Ryan's Hope" once before in a background scene. Mrs. Joyner said she is not sure if Nick will have a speaking part in the two episodes, or if he will be in the background again.

May 9 1958

    Dr. Carl W. Holl, professor of chemistry at Manchester College since 1923, was named recently as one of the six outstanding teachers of undergraduate chemistry in the United States.

Holl will receive an award of $1,000 June 12 at White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., by the Manufacturing Chemists Association.

May 9 1933

    Link Hay discovered three mushrooms in the city park by the fire house. Police Sgt. Raymond Neff said that he would dig them up and eat them for dinner. Much interest was manifested in the find by mushroom fans. Later it developed that Al Cuffel had "planted" the mushrooms a few hours earlier. Cuffel will have his little joke with the firemen and police.
