Larry Ladd, manager of Jellystone Park in Pierceton for 15 years, was chosen as the 2004 Operator of the Year by the Jellystone franchise. He worked there while attending college in 1971, the first summer of operation, consisting of 260 campsites. After graduation in 1975, he worked as the maintenance and park operations manager until becoming general manager in 1988.
The DVD produced by the city of Warsaw and Video and Sound Productions to commemorate the city’s history during the sesquicentennial celebration in 2004 has earned honorable mention honors in the International Communicator Awards competition. Michelle Bormet, secretary to Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins, was a member of the sesquicentennial planning committee.

Dr. Robert Fuson, Warsaw physician who competes in the Great Race, was named a charter member of the Great American Race Galley of Legends in Dallas. He has entered his 1912 American La France fire engine in the transcontinental race the past seven years. He has already entered this year’s race to be held June 24 in New York City.
Kathryn Reiff, Warsaw, has written a book, “Surviving the Wound of Grief,” saying the best way to deal with grief is to stay busy. Her daughter, Maureen, typed the notes and journals. Reiff is a five-time Golden Poet Award winner, and has included several poems in her book.
Kevin Ker, 3, Warsaw, tried out the new playground equipment at Center Lake Park.

Syracuse Civil Defense Unit will enter a float in the North Webster Mermaid Festival Parade. Committee members are Dorothy Causer, Mrs. Ralph Kinsley and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gilbert. A Civil Defense flag will be purchased for the color guard unit.
Talma School spelling champs: Cindy Kralis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Kralis, fifth/sixth, teacher Mrs. Reese; Susan Zent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Zent, seventh/eighth, teacher Mr. McClure.
Jeannette Byrer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Byrer, Route 1, Etna Green, is chairman of the frolic bowl committee for the May Day festivities, Manchester College.

Warsaw High School’s senior class play, “Life Begins at Forty,” is the first play presented in the new high school auditorium. It is also the first time that seats have been reserved for public entertainment.
B.F. Williamson, of Claypool, has purchased the Talley Idle farm near Packerton from the Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Lozier Helvey, of Warsaw, was fined $1 Saturday morning by Police Officer Robert Hay for double parking on South Buffalo Street. Two boys, reported to have been shooting BB guns in the vicinity of the Ford Johnson home on West Market Street, were warned by police Saturday afternoon to cease the practice.
Four puppies owned by Mrs. Ripley Young found homes through Times and Union want ads. She received 10 telephone calls and several parties called in person.
