75 Years Ago Natural gas under 12 pounds pressure, highly inflammable and odorless, continues to flow from a 2-inch well sunk, only 36 feet deep on the banks of Tippecanoe Lake, east of Potawatomi. Drillers expected to get drinking water. With a roar the gas burst forth and ignited in a flame 30 feet high. The well was dug on a lake shore lot owned by L.F. Fulkerson. Fulkerson may utilize the gas to light and heat his own lake cottage. Others envision a gas boom for Kosciusko County.
