Lakeland Christian Academy's top graduating seniors for 1998 are Grace Lenox, valedictorian, and Ryan Andrew, Timothian.
Karl Ottersberg, a junior at Warsaw Community High School, won the Tri-Kappa Art Contest. Ottersberg was judged the Grand Prize Winner for his model of Puck, a character from Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream."
Freshman Barbara Meyer, queen of the Land-O-Lakes junior high school track meet in Warsaw, presented a first-place ribbon to classmate Dick Fancil, king of the pole vaulters. Dick, who also competes on the high school varsity, vaulted an unprecedented 11 feet 8-1/2 inches to win the freshman division event. It was with within less than an inch of the Warsaw High School record. Barbara's attendants were Pam Hartle and Judy Horn, freshmen; Sue Metzger, MaryEllen Rice and Judy Fisher, eighth-graders; Pat Ellis, Barbara Delp and Carrie Anglin, seventh-graders.
Buthene Hartsock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hartsock, of North Lake Street, received her graduation diploma as reward for the completion of the private secretarial course of the International Business College at Fort Wayne. Hartsock, a member of the 1932 graduating class of the local high school, completed the course in one month less than the stated time for finishing.
