10 Years Ago The Kosciusko County Historical Society will dedicate a marker at the Old Jail Museum, Sunday, commemorating the original jail building. The stone building was built in 1870 by Richard Epperson and leased to the Historical Society as a county museum in 1982. Former sheriffs and jail matrons will be the honored guests. An open house will follow the dedication. 25 Years Ago Approximately 200 Grace College students participated in the second annual "Spring Into Action" program last weekend. The students split up into eight small groups and went to work in Warsaw on the streets, cemeteries, the airport, fairgrounds and the office of Combined Community Services. Additionally, 20 people worked on a house on Packerton Road and another 50 assisted the Winona Lake Street Department in cleaning along roads and sweeping city streets. The students were treated to a picnic by the town of Winona Lake. 50 Years Ago Public Information Officer Robert Craig, of the Warsaw National Guard, announced today that six-month enlistments are being accepted for those wishing to fulfill their military obligations. All young men between the ages of 17 to 25, or those who will become seniors in high school in June, can join the Guard by contacting the commander of Company A, Indiana National Guard, Warsaw. The office is manned from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Fridays. 75 Years Ago Miss Mina Underwood, of Pierceton, was a guest of Miss Mabel Orr at the anniversary banquet of the Business and Professional Women at the Hotel Hays Wednesday evening. The annual mother-daughter banquet will be held at Burket Friday, May 6, sponsored by The United Brethren Missionary Society and the Otterbein Guild.
