Warsaw’s World War II Veteran Recognition Day May 29 begins at 7 a.m. with a prayer breakfast at the American Legion Post 49, 301 N. Buffalo St., sponsored by the Salvation Army Auxiliary. World War II exhibits will be displayed at the high school, and a memorial will be dedicated by the tank on the courthouse lawn. A live satellite feed from Washington, D.C., of the dedication of the World War II Memorial will be shown. A 16-piece swing band will put on a re-enactment of a USO show, with the day ending with a motorcycle show beginning on Fort Wayne and Buffalo streets by the American Legion Post.

Students of Redeemer Lutheran School earned excellent ratings at an arts festival in Sturgis, Mich. Participating in the event of music, dance and crafts were Joshua Rude, Rick and Tiffany Hart, Alicia Prater, Sheena Dickey, Kristina Heberling and Melissa Letsch.
Wawasee’s Kris Eisenhour won the 300-meter hurdles during the Northern Lakes Conference meet Tuesday with a time of 46.97. Warsaw freshman Kerry White gets off to a good start in the 400-meter race.
Eberle Amusement, Peru, has set up rides and games next to Neck of the Woods behind the Market Place through the weekend. Travis Spangler, 3, plays a game with ducks.
Shirley Bell, School of Dance, and her daughter Julie, will model clothing and accessories from The County Seat at Concord Mall’s Fashion Show Saturday.

Robert Lichtenwalter, Warsaw, was elected the 1964 exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 802. Oscar Werner is leading knight; Richard Moore, loyal knight; Merl Mock, lecturing knight; Robert Huffer, esquire; Ralph Sanderson, chaplain; Doug Kehler, inner guard; Harold Kelly; tiler. Trustees: Ernest L. Kelly, Robert D. Taylor, Ted Bradway, Joseph Koors, Raymond Tyner. Secretary is Ralph Coplen and treasurer William Harvuot.
Allen Sharkey, Etna Green, played the part of Ringo on the drums as one the Beatles at the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau Co-op meeting at the Shrine Building.

Back in 1938, young Byron Shoemaker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shoemaker of near Silver Lake, got so excited over the Burket-Webster game that he fell off his perch, hitting the floor with a none too dull thud. He was taken to McDonald Hospital for treatment as he suffered a slight concussion.
Warsaw’s popular Eagles quartet rigged up in the regalia of the old barber shop tunesters who used to give Mother and Dad a thrill when they were young. Playing were Austin Helser, first tenor; Francis Ladd, baritone; Floyd Shue, second tenor; and Ralph McDaniel, bass.
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron A. Rasor, 725 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, will observe their golden wedding anniversary March 7.
