    Kyle Bruner, a senior art student at Warsaw Community High School, recently was honored at a reception hosted by Tim Roemer in South Bend. Bruner's drawing, a charcoal/mixed media still life, won an honorable mention in the 1997 3rd Congressional District Art Competition. He received a certificate and a $50 savings bond.

    The U.S. Achievement Academy announced that Michael Fleck has been named a 1981 United States National Award winner in speech and drama. This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain.

He is the son of Jan and Carolyn Fleck.

    Billy Nine, 16, North Cook Street, caught a 5-1/2 pound bass in Pike Lake. Billy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nine, used a spinning rod with a rubber night crawler.

    Mrs. Walter Brubaker, of this city, who has been contributing poems to several of the leading magazines, has a poem titled "Lullaby" in June issue of Good Housekeeping. The poem appears on the first page and is illustrated.
