10 Years Ago John C. Peterson Post 49, American Legion Inc., Warsaw, celebrated its 50-year rededication recently with a program that began with the posting of the colors. The Post was originally dedicated May 24, 1952, when the commander was Joe Watkins and the address of welcome was by then Mayor Paul Hodges. Dick Dobbins, a 50-year member, delivered a brief history of the Post during the rededication program. 25 Years Ago The following recipe was published in the Spotlight Recipe Contest: (Italian) Spaghetti Salad. Ingredients: 1 lb. vermicelle; 2 medium tomatoes; 1 green pepper; 1 large onion; 1 (8 oz.) bottle of Italian dressing; 6 tbsp. of salad seasoning. Cook vermicelle. Chop onion, green pepper and tomatoes. Add salad seasoning and Italian dressing. Mix well and serve. Gloria J. Ackels, Warsaw 50 Years Ago Lee Harman and Jenny Bartlemay were crowned king and queen of the Warsaw High School Junior-Senior Prom recently at the Elks Club. Both are seniors. Lee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Harmon, Warsaw. Mr. Harman is Adams grade school principal. Jenny’s father is employed at the Elks Club here. 75 Years Ago A motor boat trip from Warsaw, down Walnut Creek, the Tippecanoe, Wabash and Mississippi to New Orleans and thence by inland shoreline waters of the Gulf of Mexico to Florida, will be taken by three Warsawans: Clyde Bratt, 41; his sister, Mrs. William Swayzee; and Mr. Swayzee, 35. They are building their boat, a 14-foot flat bottom craft with enclosed cabin, 5-foot beam, powered by an outboard motor, along the banks of the Winona Lake dam.
