MENTONE - Jill Olson and Kelly Meredith are the top scholars for Tippecanoe Valley High School's graduating class this year.
POTPOURRI - Long Distance Visitors - A balloon sent aloft from Dowagiac, Mich., with a note attached was found recently near Warsaw. Brad Hagg, a Leesburg School sixth grader, found the remains of the balloon and the note in Lake Forest Addition on the north side of Chapman Lake. The balloon carried the name of Mike Friske, an 8-year-old first grader in Kincheloe School at Dowagiac.
Michael Long, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Long, Barbee Lakes, has been selected to be the North Webster representative to Boys State at Indiana University in June.
The Warsaw pistol team recently won in a meet between the Purdue team and the local marksmen by a score of 1129 to 1121.
