    Warsaw's first real coffee shop has opened. Courthouse Coffee, 108 N. Buffalo St., offers a quiet atmosphere, features a grand piano and coffee drinks such as the Judicial System and Illegal Consumption.

May 24 1982

    Jeff Stookey, 19-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stookey, Leesburg, placed first in the recent Dairy Type Conference sponsored by Purdue University, Animal Science Department.

Stookey competed with 74 other adults at the conference.

50 Years Ago

May 24 1957

    Sue Henderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Henderson, Chapman Lake, has been awarded the highest honor as a new pledge of Phi Omicron of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, Hanover College.

The award is based on high scholarship, active participation and leadership in the sorority and contributions to the campus community as a whole.

75 Years Ago

May 24 1932

    M.E. Lawrence today received an airmail letter from California. It was mailed at San Diego May 16, and the edges of the envelope enclosing the letter was scorched all around. The letter was intact, however. Stamped upon the envelope was this: "Delay due to airmail interruption May 16, 1932; Burbank, Calif." The letter received it scorching in a mail plane fire.
