High school freshman Ben Lursen won a 1987 Pontiac Bonneville in a raffle among students who had perfect attendance for the year.
Two girls have been named valedictorian and salutatorian at NorthWood High School. They are Kathy Strycker and JoAnn Jackson respectively.
Ella Ree Sloan, 11, and Eloise Priser, 12, scored a perfect 476 points to win the Monroe Grade School's "Fresh Air" program in which pupils are given a number of points for participation in outdoors play during each recess. School Principal Colonel Likens started the program several years ago due to the lack of space for pupils to play inside the school building. Ella Ree is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Sloan, and Eloise the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Priser.
