    AKRON - Crystal Grossman, a fifth-grade student at Akron Elementary School and the daughter of Ron and Patti Grossman, will receive a $500 U.S. Savings Bond as Akron Elementary's winner of the Second Annual Troopers Association Essay Contest.

Grossman wrote a 100-word composition on "I Choose to Live a Drug-Free Life Because ..."

    David Grandstaff has been named valedictorian and Kay Richards salutatorian of the Manchester High School senior class, Principal Eugene Stone announced recently.

Grandstaff is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Grandstaff and Richards the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Richards.

    Mildred Slone entertained members of her bridge club at her home on East Fort Wayne Street. Three tables of bridge were played with Alice Watkins winning the prize. Members present were Lois Harman, Alice and Helen Watkins, Wilma Ruse, Betty Taylor, Sally Eschbach, Josephine Lafler, Mildred Sloane and Winifred Davis.
