Mrs. Ringle’s third grade class at Harrison Elementary School is heading to Indianapolis May 25 to present their EdCom project to Governor Mitch Daniels.
Memorial Scholarships, named in memory of former students Lori Rigsby, Jacqueline Egolf and Ashleigh Brunner, were given to three students at Debra Collier’s School of Dance: Brianna Day, Warsaw; Kristen Zeigler, Leesburg; and Thomas Eiser, Bourbon.
Nathan Yoder, Warsaw Community High School and Randy Bouse and William Swihart, both of Whitko High School, have enlisted in Company A, 1st Battalion of the 293rd Infantry, Indiana Army National Guard.

Grace College and Theological Seminary will award degrees to 230 students May 12 in a joint commencement exercise on the front lawn of the campus. The town of Winona Lake will close Wooster Road between Kings Highway and CR 250E for the ceremony. In case of rain, college commencement will be held in the Lancer Gymnasium, with seminary commencement at the Rodeheaver Auditorium.
The Kosciusko County Jail Museum and the Lakeland Quilt Club will sponsor a quilt exhibit at the Jail Museum May 18-20. There will be exhibits on all three floors. Admission is $1; children under 12, free.
Kosciusko County’s Senior Citizen Queen Contest, sponsored by the Council on Aging, will be held May 23 at Center Lake Pavilion. Entertainment and refreshments are provided.

The highlight social event of the 1964-65 school year at Warsaw Community High School is the junior-senior banquet and prom May 21. The banquet will be held in the Shrine Building starting at 7 p.m. At 9 p.m., the students go to the high school for the crowning of the prom king and queen, followed by dancing in the commons. The after-prom includes more dancing, a movie in the auditorium, a variety show and other activities. Breakfast brings the festivities to a close about 5 a.m.
John Frederick, principal of Silver Lake School, announced that Louella Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Nelson, is valedictorian of the Class of 1965. Carol Ann Werner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Werner, was named salutatorian.
Whitko School Board closed Sidney High School last fall, the students were sent to South Whitley. Members discussed building a new consolidated high school.

Glen Clingman, 17, was fined $1 on charges filed by State Policeman Clifford Snyder for driving too slow. He was crawling along Road 14 beside Lake Manitou near Rochester Saturday, accompanied by several friends, while listening to a broadcast of the final game of the state basketball tournament. The officer came up behind Clingman and clocked him at from three to six miles an hour.
Burket High School will graduate 12 students April 18 at the community building: Gerald Bucher, Mary Maxine Swick, Annabelle Rickel, Irene Brown, Elwin Teel, Ina Mae Rapp, Verna Bensart, Donald Yarian, Mildred Kurtz, Zelma Tullis, Jack Newcomb John Eaton. Speaker: Harry Rowe, Franklin. The Rev. Frank Dougherty, Warsaw Methodist Church, will speak at the baccalaureate.
