10 Years Ago Radio operator Bob Burns, Warsaw, saw 218 days of combat in World War II landing on Omaha Beach a few days after D-Day in June 1944, and remained in Europe as part of the Occupation Army of Germany with the First’s 3rd Armored Division. Burns was responsible for sending messages brought to him back through the division or back to headquarters. The missives were transformed into everchanging five-letter word codes and sent out in Morse Code. “I remember the Morse Code’s dot-and-dash system to this day,” he said. 25 Years Ago Missions Outreach Inc. director Kim Bauer announced that Kris Doron, 15, has been accepted to serve on a work/witness team in Costa Rica this summer. The team will arrive at the MOI training center at Miracle Hills Ranch, Bethany, Mo., June 25. In Costa Rica, the team will work with CAM International building a church with the locals in San Isidro De Puntarenas where they will take part in services. Kris is the daughter of Dale and Nancy Doron, Warsaw, and attends the Eel River Community Church pastored by her father. It was organized in 1954 by Donald Ogden, chairman of the division of fine arts at Grace, and is in its 10th consecutive year under his direction. 75 Years Ago Chalmers Dome, owner and operator of Domie’s Auto Repair Shop has been appointed Hudson motor car representative for Warsaw and vicinity. The shop will continue its operation in the same location it has been for the past eight years. New 1939 Hudson models are now on display in the show rooms. Warsaw’s Dramatic Club will sponsor the play “That Cat With Nine Tails” at a local theatre sometime in April. Talent and entire cast selection will be made from local try-outs. Mrs. Harold A. Ford is in charge of the show.
