    SILVER LAKE - Residents can rest easy knowing there's a police officer in town again.

Craig Hollopeter of Warsaw was hired during a special meeting of the Silver Lake Town Council to fill the available marshall job. He begins on May 12.

May 1 1982

    Warsaw Community High School will start the 1982-83 year with two new administrators following appointments by the school board.

Dave Fulkerson and Jerry Seese will become the athletic director and high school assistant principal respectively. Fulkerson replaces Gene Butts, who will return to classroom teaching, while Seese's position was added to comply with North Central accreditation requirements.

May 1 1957

    Alton Kissinger, of Silver Lake, this week landed a 9-pound, 9-1/2-ounce bass while fishing in the gravel pit waters near Tippecanoe Lake.

It is believed to be the largest bass caught in this area in many years.

May 1 1932

    Sheriff Person, candidate for renomination, is a very popular candidate among Republican voters. Out of the 43 precincts Person carried 40 by substantial majorities. His opponent, Melvin A. Markley, carried three precincts. They were the Van Buren precincts, Markley's home township.
