The necklace featured in this year’s Red Ball auction was designed and donated by Bill and Susan Allen, Allen Designs. It is a handmade white and yellow gold calla lily pendant following the ball’s theme of the “flower power” of the ’60s.
Tri Kappa benefit Brighton Trunk Show committee members are Cindy Katris, Debbie Jensen, Susan Findlay, Jasmine Schlitt, Kristin Elliott, Debbie DeMuth, Kim Kesler and Rebecca Kubacki. The event will be May 5 at Stonehenge Country Club. There will also be a tea and a style show.

Melissa Monk, Mentone fourth-grader, is a candidate for the 1990 MIss Indiana National Pre-Teen Pageant at the Columbus Holiday Inn May 19. It is the official state pageant for the Miss National Pre-Teen Pageant held in Florida in the fall.
Dan Holden, Eric Oglesbee, Kara Taylor, Alysia Hepler and Sonny the Robot will participate in a children’s musical to be presented at Nappanee Missionary Church, “Love Makes It Real,” written by local resident Dave Kiefer and performed by the choir.
The Grace (College) Belles, in their 10th year, will leave May 16 for a three-week program tour of Chile, Argentina and Uruguay under the sponsorship of Gospel Mission of South America. Accompanying them will be the Rev. Richard and Ethel Anderson, directors of the group, and Mrs. Dan Pacheco, dean of women at Grace. Donna Dubbs, Warsaw, and Esther Zellner, Winona Lake, are members of the group.

A peculiarly shaped rusted metal object was found in the courthouse by Henry Hackworth, custodian, and examined by Curtis Barker, court bailiff. The object was found on an old shelf in the jury room. It had a lid, and attached was a tag saying “This is the property of T.B. Sarber,” county school superintendent from 1902 through 1945. George Nye, county historian, identified the object as a tallow dip, about 200 years old, used in Colonial days, filled with tallow and wick and put on desks for lighting.
Virginia Butts, 723 East Market St., received an autographed steel etching of the White House at the Salvation Army “parcel post” auction. She had the top bid. Inscribed underneath the etching was, “With Best Wishes, Lady Bird Johnson.”

The new Wayne Township fire truck, purchased by Trustee Floyd Robbins, arrived in Warsaw early Wednesday morning, being driven through from the factory in St. Louis. A representative of the state fire marshal’s office will conduct extensive tests on the truck before it is placed in operation.
Burket High School will present a musical April 12, announced Principal Dewey Dudgeon. The junior class play will be April 17.
The young people of Camp Creek Church will present a play, “The Way of Life,” by Martha Bailey, next Sunday evening, March 31, at the New Salem Church: Warren and Maxine Freed, Charlotte Ruff, Wilma Shively, Arlene and Lucile Bules, Glen Disher, Bertha Thomas, Ruth Hawley and directed by the Rev. Glen Rummel.
