    ANDERSON - Former Wawasee High School track standout Emily Matz was named the 1998 Women's Track events MVP at the ICAC Championships April 25.

Matz, now running for Anderson University, won the 400 (:58.91), 200 (:27.80) and was a member of the winning 400 and 1600 relay teams.

    Vern Fredricks and Rob Zurcher teamed for a 59 to take first place in the V&B Money Open, a two-man scramble.

Second place went to Don Smith and Terry Roberts with a 61. Two other twosomes shot 61, but the Smith-Roberts duo placed higher on the backup system.

    Nancy Morgan, 18, of Country Club Drive, Warsaw, is the Times-Union May Calendar Girl. Nancy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morgan, is a senior at Warsaw High School. She is a member of the Sub Debs, FHA and Winona Ski Club. Water skiing is her favorite summer hobby. She has enrolled at Florida Summer University for the fall of 1958.

    Mama swan, whose former habitat was the lily pond at Winona Lake, has established her nest in swamp ground on the banks of the Little Eagle part of Winona Lake between the Boy Scout cabin and the dam. There Mama Swan has been setting on eggs for the past 10 days while Papa Swan watches nearby or relieves mama while she swims out into the lake to procure her meals. Papa relieves mama of keeping the eggs warm twice each day.
