Champs Silk-Screening Sporting Goods in downtown Warsaw begins a going-out-of-business sale May 7, discontinuing the 14-year-old business.
Honored as Officers of the Year by the Warsaw Optimist Club were City Police Sgt. Michael Mock, County Police Ron Robinson and State Trooper Neil Beck.
It was reported from North Webster Mermaid Festival headquarters that 16-year-old Aimee Ann Anglin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dal Anglin, Leesburg, "Miss Etna Green"; Karen Sue Latimer, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Latimer, Warsaw, "Miss Beaver Dam"; 17-year-old Jeraline Lippincott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Devon Lippincott, Milford, "Miss Milford"; and Sharon Byrd, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Byrd, Syracuse, "Miss Syracuse," will compete for Indiana's "Queen of Lakes" title in June.
Eldon V. Brower, truck driver for the Cloverleaf cream station in Pierceton, reported that he discovered a turtle near Troy, Whitley County, with two inscriptions carved on it back. The inscriptions were: "A.C., July 12, 1919, and "A.C. July 12, 1921." Brower carved his initials and date which read "E.V.B., Pierceton, April, 1933," and let the turtle go.
