Philip England, John Phillips and Daniel Hamman had fun with the chicks at Ag Day this morning at the fairgrounds. They were with Janice Torrence’s class from Eisenhower Elementary. Steve and Marvene Johnson told  students from Paul Sibray’s fourth-grade Claypool class  about products that come from sheep during the Kosciusko Ag Day at the fairgrounds. Fourth-graders from all the area schools are expected to participate. Local agricultural-related industries and businesses will offer food samples, products and information during the family-geared event.

Two Warsaw police officers received promotions effective April 1. Cpl. Lance Grubbs was promoted to sergeant. Grubbs has been with the department since January 1977. He was promoted on Aug. 16, 1983, to corporal. Patrolman Steven Adang was promoted to corporal. Adang has been with the WPD since January 1983.

Five Warsaw High School GAA girls recently attained the goal of 350 G.A.A. points enabling them to win the coveted Girls Athletic Association state plaque. The three senior girls will accept a plaque at DePauw  University on April 14. The girls are Sandra Phillips, and Mary Drabenstott, both juniors, and JoAnne Alspaugh, Linda Becher, and Debbie Uphouse, seniors

In a number of instances township assessors have found many homes at which the residents have refused to answer the door believing that if they are not interviewed by the assessor, they will be omitted from assessing in 1937. One assessor becoming tired in that he got no response, he called through the keyhole, “Lady I am going now as I cannot interview you on the assessment. I shall  just raise your last year’s assessment 10 per cent.” The result was that the housewife opened the door, the 1937 assessment was made at the old rate, and the assessor departed.
