The Kosciusko Community YMCA, in conjunction with Reneker's Sporting Goods, is sponsoring "Project Indiana Cares." The project is a printed T-shirt designed by the Y's property manager, Jack Engler; the triangle features all four branches of the military surrounding an American Flag with the motto, "It's blood that holds it up there" underneath. "We want to show our troops in Indiana and abroad that we support their efforts," said Y director Tom Garland.

     Joe Beeson, 73, was inducted to the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame Feb. 27. He coached the Warsaw boys for 13 years (161-32 record) and the girls for six years (94-16 record).Twice he represented the U. S. in matches against Canada. In 1975 Beeson started the Raquet Club here.

Chamber of Commerce board member Ken Bucher, Warsaw Chemical, presents a first-dollar certificate to Tom Knisely of Electro Cut, 1925 Leiter Drive, Warsaw. Ernie and Cheri Saldivar, J.E. and Beth Kinley of Jem Motor Car Company, 800 North Detroit Street, Warsaw, received a first-dollar certificate from Chamber member Paul Siebenmorgen, Lake City Bank.

     The Kosciusko County Historical Society will hear a program on Theodore Dreiser March 23. He was born in Terre Haute but moved with his family to Warsaw when he was 14 and entered 7th-grade at West Ward School. His teacher, Miss Fielding, encouraged him in his writing ability, sending him to Indiana University. In 1887 he moved to Chicago. He re-visited Warsaw in 1916; he later wrote of this visit, calling it "A Hoosier Holiday."

Paul Petro, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Petro, Jr., and an Adams Elementary School pupil, displays the steam turbine he will show in the Warsaw Community School Science Fair March 13 and 14.

    The pool tables at Baker Boys Club were donated from the Ben Phillipson estate. They are in constant use: Jerry Kessler, Gary Bays, Virgil Jackson, Tom Whitaker, Larry Hyden, Larry Hankins, Billy Beigh, Roger Hyden and Bill Shirey play a game.

    Dave Barnett, Gary Haymond, Jim Nyenhuis, Sue Schaefer, Robin White, Sharon Mauzy, Dave Martin, Cheryl Chance, Max Anderson, Frank Kliewer, Doug Hollar and Tip Scott from the Warsaw High School Speech Department won first-place sweepstakes awards in the event at Columbia City last Thursday.

75 years

Miss Frances Smith, Warsaw's 1938 beauty queen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Smith, Warsaw, becomes the bride of Arthur Lloyd, LaGrange, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lloyd, Warsaw, at a ceremony to be performed Sunday afternoon, January 29, at the Warsaw Presbyterian Church. Rev. A. W. Raabe will read the vows. Her sister, Lavon, will be maid-of-honor; Burnham Light, long-time friend of the couple, will be best man. Miss Smith graduated in 1938 from Warsaw High School and was elected class president her senior year. The bridegroom graduated from Warsaw with the Class of 1935 and is now manager of the W.R. Thomas store in LaGrange. After an extended auto tour of the southern states they will make their home in LaGrange.
