Robert Whiteneck reported to the Times-Union Friday nearly 100 white geese on Little Chapman Lake, a sure sign of spring. The Cli Literary Club met at the home of Ruth Ladd, 310 W. Between cutting hair and shaving, barbers were the first surgeons. 75 Years Ago Irvine Harman, South Buffalo Street, reported to the police department yesterday that his automobile had been stolen. It was later learned that the car had been removed from the street by state highway employees who were clearing away ice and snow. Cars parked along the street had handicapped their work. For a time, slush had plugged the sewage system and threatened to flood store basements. Superintendent Ed Ragan called his crew and by 9 p.m. had its large scrapers, caterpillars and trucks prepared for action uptown. Guests gathered at the Chauncey Rife home for a surprise 16th birthday party for Louise Rife. Billy Kenney, Crown Point, and Johnny Hayden, Ligonier, were out-of-town guests.
