    Marine Pfc. William Holland, son of Ted and Peggy Holland, Bourbon, recently completed the Stinger Gunner Operator's Course.

During the course at U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Center, Fort Bliss, Texas, students are taught the operation and maintenance of the Stinger Guided Missile Weapons System and its assigned equipment. The missile system is used to engage low-flying enemy aircraft.

    Claypool Elementary Principal Frank Anglin was recently informed the school's fifth-grade math team has once again been recognized for outstanding performance.

Team members who qualified for the Phase IV meet were: Dan Green, Chuck Brindle, Stephanie Miller, Brian Ring, Chris McGowan and Missy Rowland.

    Larry W. Poland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Poland, Winona Lake, is on tour with the Men's Glee Club of Wheaton College. They're giving concerts in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio during spring vacation. Larry's a sophomore majoring in sociology.

April 6 1934

    A 40-pound buffalo fish, the largest taken from Winona Lake in years, was captured by P.D. Parks and son at 9 last night by spearing in the south end of the lake in shallow water. The fish measured 3 feet long, 10 inches thick and had a tail fin alone 13 inches long.
