    Warsaw High School's winter sports Most Valuable Players were: Stephanie Ellis (girls swimming), Tiffany Ross (girls basketball), Alex Wood (boys swimming), Tom Krizmanich (boys basketball), Matt Zellers (wrestling), Sarah Weed (cheerleading), Kari Lipply (gymnastics) and Stacy Woodling (cheerleading.)

    Two contestants tied for first place with the batch of cookies they whipped up for the Second Annual Times-Union Recipe Contest tasteoff, which was held in February.

Receiving first place honors in the cookie division were Ruth E. Gunter, Warsaw, who baked "Cathedral Cookies," and Beverly Faulkner, Etna Green, who baked "Carrot Pecan Cookies."

    Atwood High School Principal Lester Davis announced Marilyn (Creighton) Hoffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Creighton, will be valedictorian, and Donald Worley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Worley, salutatorian, at the commencement exercises for 23 seniors held May 22.

    Capt. Milo Snyder, Lt. Don Curtis, Lt. Homer Rice, Sgt. Jerry Nighswander and Sgt. Samuel Wells, of the Co. L. 152nd Indiana Infantry rifle team of Warsaw, won the military trophy and took first place over 12 other crack military rifle teams shooting at the annual indoor state rifle shoot at Culver.
