Adam Warren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Warren, North Webster, and a 1996 graduate of Wawasee High School and currently a sophomore at Purdue University, is spending a semester at the University of New England in Armidale, New South Wales, Australia. Warren is part of Purdue's international agricultural studies abroad program, which allows students to study in their chosen field while attending a foreign university.
Janell Sheaks and Michelle Bowen have been chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary United 424 of Bourbon, to represent Triton High School at Girl's State this summer.
Janet Culp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Culp, Nappanee, is doing a ballet number at the Indiana Nurses Association convention in Terre Haute this weekend. Janet, who used to teach ballet, is a student nurse at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Janet is doing "I Could Have Danced All Night" from "My Fair Lady."
Mrs. A.M. Sloan, of the Sloan's grocery, 118 S. Scott St., while pulling bananas from the stalk, encountered a tarantula, which was secreted in the bunch. The body of the tarantula was about the size of a hickory nut and from tip to tip of legs measured fully three inches. The arachnid fastened its claws about Mrs. Sloan's fingers, but she succeeded in casting it on the floor, before it could bite.
