    Lt. Governor John Mutz presented a Hoosier Homestead Award to the Glen A. Pinkerton family of Milford. The award is given to Hoosier farms which have been in the same family for 100 years or more. The Pinkerton farm has been in the family since 1849.

    Chester Smith recently received the Mentone Chamber of Commerce's first Citizen of the Year Award. He was cited for his devotion to civic duties that include active participation in the Mentone Fire Dept. and the Mentone American Legion.

    Atwood's Gene Rovenstine's Comet movie theater at Bourbon was showing an earthquake scene in a movie called the "Green Dolphin Street." The sound effects were so realistic and in such intense volume, the vibrations were too much for the sound system and knocked out the sound equipment.

4/3 1923

    Isaac Groves of Milford relates that he remembers in the year 1874, when he resided southwest of Milford on the farm familiarly know as the John Gawthrop farm, a snowfall of 6 inches occurred on April 6. Between this date and April 27, he stated that the spring plowing was done.
