INDIANAPOLIS - Warsaw Community High School graduate Richard VanOsdol earned his third varsity letter in wrestling at the University of Indianapolis recently.
Two local runners finished the grueling 26-mile, 385-yard Boston Marathon Monday. Warsaw attorney Rex Reed, a veteran of this classic event, finished in two hours, 46 minutes, and Bourbon's Evelyn Leiter, running in her first Boston Marathon, finished in three hours, 32 minutes.
So the temperature was in the 30s late yesterday (April 11) evening. So it did snow last night. So it was only 26 above this morning. Who cares? Apparently not bare-skinned Glen Davis, of Mentone High School track meet, who won the mile run in a meet yesterday evening at Syracuse. The spectators along the sidelines, however, were warmly-clad.
A gold football and a gold basketball, furnished by the Warsaw Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, were awarded to two local high school athletes during an assembly meeting. The football was awarded to John Mishler, captain of the 1931-32 football team, and the basketball went to Earl Shaffer, who during the past basketball season served his team as captain.
