George Krom III, Rochester, and Will Erwin, Bourbon, were honored in March with Master Farmer Awards from Indiana Prairie Farmer magazine.
Erwin developed a concept of profit sharing on his farm that has allowed three young men from his community to get started in farming on their own. Krom has been a strong practitioner of soil and water conservation. He has used terraces, sod waterways, surface drains and filter strips in fields along Lake Manitou.

A Warsaw woman becomes the newest member of the board of directors of First National Bank, Warsaw, succeeding her father as a bank director.
Mrs. Darrell (Marilyn) Phyllips, Warsaw, was appointed to the board March 23, following the retirement announcement of her father Ross Sittler, vice chairman and longtime director.

Attractive Kay Koontz, North Webster High School senior, is The Times-Union "calendar girl" for the month of April. Kay, 18, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Koontz, of North Webster. She is a cheerleader, member of the band, choir and Sunshine Society at her school.

Word was received in Warsaw that grade stakes for the building of the new concrete highway No. 15, between Warsaw and Silver Lake are now being set by engineers.
It is hoped that the pavement will be completed by July 4.
