    Heidi Wieland and Erin Groombridge have been named valedictorian and salutatorian respectively for the class of 1997 at Manchester High School.

Wieland is the daughter of Dr. Rex Wieland and Peg Wieland. Groombridge is the daughter of Graham and Lana Groombridge.

April 26 1982

    Warsaw Patrolmen Eric Coburn and Rodney Thomas are sworn in as police officers by Mayor Paul E. "Mike" Hodges at City Hall. Both officers recently graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and have been employed as city patrolmen for one year.


April 26 1957

    Donald R. Dubbs, 61, whose record in post office service covers a 40-year span, has retired though it won't be official until May 1.

Don started work for the government on Feb. 19, 1917, delivering mail on South Buffalo Street and in the east section of Warsaw.

    A poem titled "My Glad Heart Sings," by Mrs. Walter Brubaker of this city, appears in the May issue of the Good Housekeeping magazine. Mrs. Brubaker, who writes under the pen name of Mary Barron Brubaker, also has a poem, "Miniatures," appearing in the May issue of the Household Magazine.
