10 Years Ago Doug and Diana Kehler, Warsaw, have been traveling in the Southwest in their motor home since late December. On April 9, in Burbank, Calif., they attended the NBC Studio Tour and the taping of the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. While on tour, Kehler spotted a white 1956 Chrysler Imperial and asked if it belonged to Leno. The tour guide replied that it did. Following the taping of the show, they spotted the car again. Leno stopped the car beside the Kehlers, who were standing on the sidewalk. They talked and Leno posed for pictures with them.
25 Years Ago Brant Allen Bair, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bair, of Warsaw, has been designated as an Oglethorpe Scholar at Oglethorpe University for the 1987-88 academic year, according to Jonathan H. Jay, director of admissions. He is currently attending Warsaw Community High School. Oglethorpe University is a private, liberal arts university located in Atlanta, Ga.
50 Years Ago Miss Janet Swanson, 16, and Miss Becky Anglin, 16, both of Atwood, have been named candidate and alternate respectively to Girls’ State in Bloomington from June 30 to July 8. Janet, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thorton Swanson, of Atwood, is active in band, chorus, FHA and played the lead in the junior class play. Becky, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Anglin, also of Atwood, is a cheerleader and is active in band, chorus, junior play and FHA.
75 Years Ago Fifty friends were present Friday evening at a surprise farewell party given for the Rev. and Mrs. Preston Polhemus of the Leesburg Methodist Church. A short program was presented. Rev. Polhemus is retiring from active work in the ministry and he and his wife are going to California to live. An appropriate gift was given to them by the group.
