Kelly Sanders, Kara Kramer and Trey Eaton recently participated in the Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot state finals in Anderson. Eaton finished in second place after a shoot-off. Sanders and Eaton are from Tippecanoe Valley Middle School, and Kramer attends Mentone Elementary.
Winners of top awards at the Warsaw Community High School athletic banquet include Michele Sebo (most valuable cheerleader), Angie Ryman (most improved girls basketball), Linda Shultz (most valuable girls basketball), Matt Cook (most improved boys basketball), Keith Cummings (most improved swimming), Jeff Grose (most valuable boys basketball), Mark Whitehead (most improved wrestling), and Kyle Hoskins (most valuable swimming) and Billy Ford (most valuable wrestling.)
Mrs. Charles (Marjorie) Wagner, East Center Street, received the mink stole offered by the Tri Kappas in a recent project which cleared more than $500 for charitable purposes. Marjorie was a Tri Kappa patroness for many years.
Joe Campfield, Warsaw hunter and an authority on game, takes exception to a recent statement of Ripley in his "believe it or not" cartoon. Ripley stated that the "Pronghorn antelope is the only animal in America that sheds its horns." Campfield does not believe it and is authority for the statement that elk, moose and deer shed their horns each year.
