Four area students recently qualified for state competition in National Geographic’s Geography Bee. Dane A. Sahlhoff, Bourbon, a seventh-grader at Triton Jr.-Sr. High School; Kyle K. Lowe, Warsaw, a sixth-grader at Eisenhower Elementary; Baxter J. Burnworth, Warsaw, an eighth-grader at Lakeview Middle School; and Isaac M. Meadows, Warsaw, a home-schooled seventh-grader, will compete April 5 at IPFW. Each state winner will receive $100 and other prizes, along with an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C, with a teacher escort, for the May 21-22 finals.

Four Warsaw High School students qualified at Elkhart recently for competition in the Indiana state speech finals scheduled for April 28 in Indianapolis. Vicki Philapy took first place in radio announcing at the regional meet while Jack Schutz was fourth in the same event. Diane Long was fourth in humorous interpretation and Robert Flinn fifth in extemporaneous speaking. They now rank among the top 20 in the state as determined in four regional tourneys. Kerry Anglin went to the final round in dramatic interpretation.

Thomas A. Peabody, of North Manchester, will build a $200,000 home in North Manchester for aged persons, it was announced here today. The structure will be a duplicate of the present Peabody Memorial Home operated by the Presbyterian Synod of Indiana.
Miss Lucy Upson, Miss Martha Stoner, Mrs. Harry Miller and son, Stanley, recently returned to their homes in Warsaw after spending a vacation at Baltimore, Md., with Harry Miller.
