    Warner Cable recently sponsored an Easter coloring contest. Winners were Benjamin Hudson, Sabrina Thomas, Brooklyn Slaybaugh, Joshua Light, Tamanna Ranodive, Danielle DeGeeter, Lisa Eberly and Derrick Reninger.

April 19 1982

    Robert Marshall of Warsaw caught a 22-pound northern pike in Winona Lake, using a Daredevil. The fish measured 45 inches in length and 21-3/4 in girth. The previous day, Marshall and fishing partner Willis Pratt landed 13- and 6-pound pike out of Winona.

    Mrs. Harold Wolford was installed as worthy matron of the Warsaw Order of Eastern Star at recent rites conducted by her sister, LoraBelle Burt, of Nappanee.

Mrs. Burt is a past matron of the Nappanee Chapter, past district deputy and a past grand representative of the Order.

    On the heels of the first robin of the year story, comes the first mushroom today. Tomorrow or soon we expect the first straw hat of the season. Jess Mellencamp usually provides that. But today we exhibit the first mushroom, a tiny bit of fungus which John Banks, of the local telephone company, overtook yesterday near Plymouth.
