10 Years Ago Extension Homemaker Club members of Kosciusko County cut, sewed and stuffed "comfort pillows" in the Home and Family Arts Building on the fairgrounds. Working at one station were Julia Frush, Sharon Clay, Diann Slaymaker, Lucille Graham and Sharodene Morris. About 300 pillows were distributed to county fire departments and emergency medical services. "They're for kids who need them, if they've been in a fire or accident," said Diane Wagley, chairwoman of the project. 25 Years Ago Warsaw athletic department secretary Ann Gephart threw the first pitch of the girls softball season Thursday afternoon at Grace College. Karissa, 4, Dustin, 3 months, and Brandon Boyer, 1-1/2, children of Marshall and Jeanenne Boyer, Syracuse, were winners in the America's Sweetheart Baby Pageant in South Bend. They will proceed to the national competition in Indianapolis Aug. 6-8. A raffle and car wash are being planned to help fund their efforts. Warsaw's new Summer Basketball League for men and women starts June 16 at Boggs Park (Warsaw Community High School supplies a gym for rain-outs). Divisional manager for all three is Roy Duncan. 75 Years Ago Lake Clark, Warsaw barber, was stricken with a sudden heart attack Tuesday morning in his shop in the Widaman building. He was cutting the hair of Councilman Wesley Light who caught Clark when he fell to the floor and carried him into the office of Justice of the Peace Ed B. Smith. Dr. George Schlemmer was summoned. Donald Demaree, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Demaree, 321 South Detroit Street, suffered a severe scalp wound Monday while playing in the barn. Dr. George Kress used four clamps to close the wound. Members of the 1939-40 Leesburg High School basketball squad and Coach Robert Robison will be feted with a banquet by the Leesburg Better Community Club Wednesday evening at the Leesburg Methodist Church. Over 60 people will attend.
