    The Pierceton Canasta Club met April 2 in the home of Donna Werstler.

Canasta was played with high, Alice Meeks; low, Eunice Thompson; and door prize, Bev Garman.

    The Division of Science and Mathematics at Indiana Central University honored 17 students at its annual awards banquet.

Steve P. Sittler, a junior from Silver Lake, was awarded the William R. Gommel Award for Excellence in Atmospheric Sciences. Sittler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sittler and is an earth science major.

April 14 1957

    Kosciusko County, especially the northern section, suffered the brunt of a record April snowfall that spread a slushy blanket of white across Northern Indiana today (March 8).

The Syracuse-Milford area was among the hardest hit in the entire state. The snowfall measured up to 12 inches in that locality. Ligonier reported 10 to 15 inches. In Warsaw, the measurement was 6 inches.

April 14 1932

    Claude Bratt claims the distinction of catching the first 6-pound bass in Center Lake this season. The fish is now on exhibition at the Mauzy Sporting Goods store. The bass is alive and will be placed in a tank at Mauzy's.
