Finishing in first place was Tim Ahlersmeyer, while Danielle Heckaman and Brady Ousley were third-place finishes. The finals of the contest were March 9 in New Castle. 25 Years Ago An additional 25 acres is needed for the new City-County Athletic Complex, according to a recent survey by Cole & Associates Architectural firm. “What we found after looking at the new drawings and discussing the survey, was the needs already far outstrip what we thought we could put in the 80 acres,” said president of the CCAC, Dave Montgomery. 50 Years Ago Miss Dixie Ann Bradway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl D. Bradway, Etna Green, has been chosen senior class attendant to the Queen of the May at Manchester College, North Manchester. She will attend the queen during the traditional May Day activities to be held on the campus May 4. Miss Bradway is a graduate of Atwood High School and a senior this year at Manchester College majoring in elementary education. 75 Years Ago Merchants of South Buffalo Street, on the east side of the street from Market to Jefferson Streets, presented a petition to the city council asking that the diagonal parking now in use be continued and the parallel parking recommended by the state highway commission be not passed. The petitioners claim that in some instances they have no rear entrances to their places of business and that loading and unloading is possible only with diagonal parking.
