Lake City Bank and Medtronic Sofamor Danek Manufacturing recently gave donations to the Lake City Greenway project. The Warsaw Greenway will be a little more than 8 miles in length, beginning at the Chinworth Bridge and ending at Winona Lake town limits. Lake City Bank Bank Executive Vice President Kevin Deardorff, made a $2,500 donation to greenway coordinator and Warsaw City Planner Jeff Noffsinger and Mayor Ernie Wiggins. The Medtronic donation totals $3,000. Both contributions will be applied over a two-year period.

The recipe was submitted in the American category of the Spotlight Recipe Contest for Old-Fashion Buffalo Stew.
3 lbs. buffalo steak or roast; 1 buffalo soup bone; 8 cups of water or enough to eover meat; 4 tsp. of salt; 1/2 tsp. dried oregano; 1/4 tsp. dried marjoram; 2 bay leaves; 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce; 1/4 tsp. chili powder; 1 package frozen corn; 3 tomatoes, peeled and diced; 2 or 3 potatoes, diced; 1 qt. green beans; 2 carrots; 2 ribs celery; 1 medium onion. Simmer meat and spices for 2 hours. Remove  meat from bone and chop all meat. Strain broth. Skim off grease. Add chopped meat and all vegetables. Cover and simmer 1 hour. Pardee Gunter, Leesburg

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stevens, of Sidney, visited recently with their son, Bob Stevens, and his family, at Columbia, S.C. Bob recently was named “coach of the year” in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He is head basketball coach at the University of South Carolina. Bob received honors from the state legislature as well as being honored by the city. He also has received honors from the state legislature as well as being honored by the city.

Dale Babcock and Mearl Yoder, while netting in Winona Lake recently caught a 26-pound Buffalo fish. Four one and one-quarter pounds of eggs were taken from the Buffalo. Many Winona Lake residents viewed the fish where it was preserved in the ice counter at the Winona grocery.
