From “Extension News” column: Tips for what baking soda will clean:
• Make a solution of 2 tablespoons baking soda and one quart warm water to clean practically everything: refrigerator, small appliances, countertops, microwave oven, baby bottles, thermos, lunch boxes and plastic containers.
• Sprinkle baking soda on a damp cloth to scour the sink. It will not scratch.
• Eliminate odors by placing an open box of baking soda in the refrigerator and freezer. When disposing of the box, pour it down the drain to deodorize it.
• To clean burned-on food, sprinkle pots with baking soda, add water and simmer. The burned food will come out easily.

Warsaw’s high school athletic field was flooded and the Big Four freight depot was almost surrounded by water Monday. The athletic field appeared to be under almost three feet of water at the deepest place. High waters were not draining away and appeared to be backing up from the Tippecanoe River outlet of the Frazer drainage sewer near the Center Lake outlet.
