    POTPOURRI - Featured in the April edition of Beckett Baseball, a national magazine for baseball card collectors, is a photo and write-up of Alex Jordan Smith, 7, son of Paul and Gina Smith, Warsaw.

In a section titled "Short Stops" is a photo of Alex with his collection and a description in his own words of what he collects. Alex, a second-grader at Leesburg, Elementary, said meeting Atlanta left-handed starting pitcher Tom Glavine at Epcot Center last year has been his highlight.

April 10 1984

    Robert Hartzell, an Etna Green fireman for 24 years, recently won the plaque as Kosciusko County "Fireman of the Year." The presentation was made by the Warsaw Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Hartzell is the owner operator of the Etna Elevator.

April 10 1959

    Ground breaking for a new quarter-million dollar, 12-lane bowling center is expected to get under way this week according to Fred and Marguerite Gilliam, owners, of Warsaw.

The location of the 74-by-150-foot building will be at the north edge of the city on Ind. 15, with modern automatic bowling equipment including underlane ball returns, magic circle ball racks, Pindicator signaling unit and an electric hand dryer

    The Rebekah Lodge met recently and three new members, Laura Loy, Alice Fawley and Florence Dock, were initiated into the order. The committee, with Lulu Shellenberger as chairman, served dainty refreshments.
