10 Years Ago March 8 1997 It was rare enough when four ladies walked into Breading's Cigar Store for lunch. But even more out of the ordinary was the tablecloth and flowers that adorned their table. The momentous occasion grew from a fundraiser auction at Sacred Heart School when Dr. Steve Grossnickle paid $260 for lunch for four at Breadings. The event was a surprise birthday luncheon for Carol Clay. Attending the luncheon were Dr. Steve and Lori Grossnickle, Peggy Sawyer, Carol and John Clay and Lois and Chuck Niemier. 25 Years Ago March 8 1982 Potpourri - According to a recent report from a very good source, Kosciusko County Court Judge James Jarrette has a little problem with concentration occasionally while at work in his office. It seems the showers in the new jail are adjacent to his office in the courts portion of the justice building, and one of the prisoners always sings too loud when he takes his shower! 50 Years Ago March 8 1957 The new Kline Department Store opened its doors March 8 for the first time in Warsaw. A large crowd was waiting at the front doors at 10 a.m. when they were opened by manager John Helfrich. Kline's has leased the former Mellencamp Furniture building at 113 E. Market St., and has completely remodeled all three floors. 75 Years Ago March 8 1932 A session of the Masonic Blue Lodge was held Friday evening. During the meeting the Fellowcraft degree was conferred on two candidates, Chester R. Jontz and Karl Weick. There was a good attendance.
