10 Years Ago Shanna Zolman made her radio announcing debut recently with Hoosier 103 at the All-Star game at Bethel College. Joining her were Kem Zolman and Jason Samuel, 103 announcer. Zolman has plans to major in sports communications at the University of Tennessee.
25 Years Ago Officials at First National Bank of Warsaw are planning quite a party to celebrate their 50th anniversary. In this case the rate of interest is expected to be quite high. According to Judy Cole, spokesperson for the bank, about 3,000 people are expected to attend the party May17 on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn. Admission is free. Food and entertainment for the entire family will be supplied.
50 Years Ago President Kennedy late yesterday named 41-year-old Warsaw attorney Jesse E. Eschbach to a federal judgeship post for the Northern Indiana District. Eschbach, a Republican, along with the selection of George Beamer, a Democrat, were appointed by the president to fill two existing bench vacancies in the district. This is the first time in the more than 100-year history of Kosciusko County that one of its residents has been named to a federal judgeship.
75 Years Ago Miss Elizabeth Perry, of Warsaw, student at Indiana University, Bloomington, retained her title as ping-pong champion in the intramural tournament for women held the latter part of last week. About 75 girls were entered in the contest. Miss Perry played eight sets and was successful in each game. Her last opponent, Ruby Davidson of Crawfordsville, was twice defeated by a score of 21-18. The cup was awarded by the W.A.A. Miss Perry won the same honors last year.
